Woman Knifed in Birmingham Bus Stop Assault Dies
A woman stabbed repeatedly to her neck area in an unprovoked attack near a bus shelter in Birmingham has passed away, police have confirmed.
The victim, who was 34, came under attack in Smallbrook Queensway, just outside the Bullring shopping centre, shortly before 21:00 GMT on Friday, West Midlands Police said.
The suspect, 21, appeared before Birmingham court Monday morning, facing charges for the attack.
He was previously accused of attempted murder but following the woman's death charges were upgraded to murder.
Law Enforcement Actions
Authorities stated police personnel will remain in the downtown area through Monday providing public assurance, and investigators were supporting the victim's relatives.
Investigators are requesting for witnesses who might have observed Mr Rafael, who is described as a Black British national, and is believed to have been wearing an all-grey tracksuit, dark headwear, athletic shoes and rucksack.

The stabbing happened outside the Bullring shopping centre, across from primary access point to Birmingham New Street station.
Law enforcement confirmed they classified it as a random violent act and Det Insp James Nix said they were working to understand the motive behind.
Eyewitness Reports
An area worker, employed in the vicinity, described the emergency response when she finished her work period around 10 PM on Friday.
She characterized the location as "quite chaotic", and said co-workers reported hearing a commotion at about 21:00.
"A lot of my colleagues take public transport, take the tram... our security is compromised fundamentally, in the downtown area."
Ashley Birks, twenty-five, from Stoke-on-Trent, said he came the city fairly regularly visiting his partner resident there, and was concerned regarding the incident.
"It causes concern for my girlfriend," he said.
"She doesn't drive and works at major concert locations... considering a totally random act occurred, understandably, it's terrible."
